HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A high speed chase through Harrison County came to an end near the intersection of Tegarden Road and Highway 90 in Gulfport on Sunday. Gulfport police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel said the suspect, 29-year-old Linda Okoronkwo of New Orleans, has been charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding.

McDaniel says at 1:46 pm Gulfport officers assisted Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian police who were pursuing a vehicle on Highway 90 into Gulfport.

At one point, police say Okoronkwo drove into Jones Park and through the splash pad area .Witnesses at Jones Park tell us the woman ran her black Chevrolet Avalanche through the park's playground area before losing a tire and continuing the chase eastbound on Highway 90.

According to police, the car eventually came to stop near Tegarden Road, because flat tires made the vehicle inoperable. She was then taken into custody.

Authorities say the chase began in Bay St. Louis. Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, and Long Beach Police Departments have not said if the suspect will face additional charges in those cities.

Linda Okoronkwo was booked into the Harrison County jail under a $100,000 bond.
