BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The countdown is on for opening day with the Biloxi Shuckers. The first pitch will be thrown on Saturday, June 6, at MGM Park.

General Manager Buck Rogers says there's a renewed sense of excitement among his staff.

"We're like a bunch of 10-year-olds on Christmas morning," said Rogers.

Besides the actual construction, there is still much work behind the scenes to be done, from setting up cameras to making sure the scoreboard is working to having the American flag ready to raise.

"It's a monumental task, but we will be ready," said Rogers.

Steve Phillips spoke with Rogers today to find out what all has to be done to have MGM Park game ready before next Saturday. Look for the story tonight on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
