Man Walking Across The Southeast For Diabetes

A Florida man is walking more than 1,000 miles to raise awareness for all forms of diabetes.

John Rhodes crossed through Jackson County Wednesday as part of his walk from Miami to New Orleans.

After learning about Diabetes and its long term effects, John felt the need to do something to encourage more research for a cure. John began walking in January and hopes to be in New Orleans within the next two weeks.

"I felt the Lord Jesus impressed upon my heart to do this walk for diabetes patients," Rhodes said. "I checked the legalities of an awareness walk from Miami to New Orleans, and I started walking."

John isn't taking any donations, but he is encouraging people to contact any of the national diabetes associations and make donations on his behalf.
