SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Seven boats and one helicopter remain near Ship Island, desperately searching for a 16-year-old who disappeared Sunday afternoon.
A spokesman with the U.S. Coast Guard says this remains a search and rescue operation. Rescue teams have not given up hope they'll find Omar Gonzalez somewhere between Ship and Cat Islands.
The DMR's Marine Patrol division, Harrison County, and even some locals have joined the search efforts.

Gonzalez's mother was told her son disappeared at 4:50 p.m. Sunday while swimming off the tip of Ship Island. The Coast Guard has been searching ever since.
Search efforts continued overnight and this morning, despite the thunderstorms. Rescue teams say they're determined to find the 16-year-old Petal teen.
His 17-year-old friend was rescued from the water Sunday. He was clinging to a buoy west of Ship Island.
