Memorial Day observances in South Mississippi

Memorial Day is the time to remember the sacrifices of American veterans. 1.3 million Americans have died in wars, fighting for our freedoms. A number of observances are scheduled in South Mississippi.


The annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Biloxi National Cemetery will begin at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Captain Paul Odenthal, commanding officer of the Naval Battalion Construction Center. The Biloxi National Cemetery is located at 400 Veterans Ave.


The city along and VFW Post 2539 are teaming up for a ceremony. The even will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Barksdale Pavilion in Jones Park, located at 2250 Jones Park Dr.


The Second Annual Avenue of Flags Ceremony program will be held held at the American Legion Hall , located at 3824 Old Spanish Trail. The city and the American Legion Post 1992 are teaming up to put on the event.

Bay St. Louis:

The American legion post 139 is having a memorial day ceremony at 10 a.m. The event will be at St. Mary's Cemetery located at 228 South Beach Blvd.
