MS Gulf Coast Bulldogs are second at the NJCAA Div. II Golf Championship

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Phillip Hickam fired a 5-under 67 Wednesday dropping the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs golfer to 11-under after the second round of the NJCAA Division II Golf Tournament.  He sits atop the leaderboard, two shots in front of Bulldogs teammate Grant Motter, who also shot a 5-under 67 on Wednesday.

They helped Mississippi Gulf Coast leap two spots to second place, seven shots behind South Mountain Community College out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Hickam said, "I'm just hitting it real well.  The freshman from Olive Branch added, "All my misses are good. Everything is in the right place. Everything's clicking."

Hickam is bogey-free after 36 holes.  He birdied No. 4, 7, 10, 14 and 16.

Gulf Coast head coach Tommy Snell said, "It could have been a lot better today.  He burned more lips than hot soup. Five-under could have been 10-under, easily."

Conner Entriken is plus-2 after 36 holes,  George Kawell is 1-over and Danny De Los Santos is 7-over after a 2-over 74 on Wednesday.
