DELISLE, MS (WLOX) - A South Mississippi fifth grader will get to spend time with some NFL players this summer. JD Glorioso is the Mississippi Ambassador to the NFL's "Fuel Up to Play 60 Program," and he'll represent the state in a national summit in Chicago.
The Delisle Elementary student earned the most points in the "Fuel Up" campaign. It encourages students to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day. JD logged 112,000 points by exercising, eating healthy, and promoting the program.
"It was exciting, that I have earned this many points to go, that I exercised that much and played that much," said Glorioso. "It'll encourage other kids to do it and get healthy and it's fun."
The school's PE coach said JD worked hard for the title.
"It was an amazing thing, I couldn't believe he was chosen," said Coach Curtis Cotten, "but then I could believe it, because he's worked so hard to be physically active and promote the Fuel Up to Play 60 program."
Cotten will also get to attend the all-expenses paid trip to Chicago in July.
