Biloxi Shuckers beat Jacksonville Suns in 7-6 thriller

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Biloxi Shuckers won four straight games over Jacksonville after losing the opening game in the five-game series.

Biloxi (24-16) and Jacksonville were tied 6-6 before Tyrone Taylor belted a single up the middle to drive home Nathan Orf to give the Shuckers a 7-6 lead, a lead that would hold up.

Jacksonville (15-24) used a grand slam by Ryan Rieger to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning off Shuckers reliever Jaye Chapman.  Despite give up the long ball Chapman got his third win of the season against two defeats.

Orlando Arcia had 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate and scored a run.  Nick Ramirez was 1 for 3 with one RBI. Michael Reed had 2 hits in 4 at-bats, 2 RBI's, scored a run.  Reed had a double and triple.

Shuckers starting pitcher Hobbs Johnson smashed a two-out triple that gave Biloxi a 6-0 lead.  Johnson allowed two runs on four hits, a walk and tossed three strikeouts in five innings on the mound.

"We feel pretty good right now,"stated Shuckers manager Carlos Subero.  "Today was a game where, from the get o, you think you have dominated and then you get something like what happened tonight and the game gets tired.  You can see when you are playing well like we are right now, you bounce back."

Biloxi can sit back and relax with an off day on Wednesday before taking a swing at the Birmingham Barons in game one of a five-game series beginning Thursday.

Right handed pitcher Jorge Lopez (3-2, 3.44 ERA) gets the starting nod against right handed pitcher Tony Bucciferro (0-1, 5.14 ERA).
