N.R. Burger Middle School raises money for fallen officers

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The students at N.R. Burger Middle School donated $500 Monday to the fallen officers' fund.

The student council came up with a creative and fun method to encourage their fellow students to contribute. They declared "Free Dress Day" for all kids that donated $3.

"I was really impressed and proud that many of the students still wore their uniforms but just wanted to donate," said Robert Williams, principal.

"To see young kids getting involved has been inspiring," said Macallister Jackson, student council representative.

The Hattiesburg Public School District has encouraged all schools to raise money. The funds will be donated to the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation.
