HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A long procession of law enforcement vehicles provided escort Wednesday as the body of one of two Hattiesburg police officers killed in the line of duty last weekend was transported from the funeral home to a West Hattiesburg church for funeral services Thursday. The procession of police cruisers and motorcycles escorting the body of officer Benjamin Deen left Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home at 3 p.m. and made its way along Southern Ave., W. Pine St., Broadway Drive, Lincoln Road and Old Highway 11 to Temple Baptist Church.

Children, teachers and parents at Sacred Heart Catholic School stood on the north and south sides of Southern Ave. in silence to show their respect and appreciation for Deen, who was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop Saturday night.

Deen's fellow officer, Liquori Tate, was also gunned down Saturday.

Four suspects are in jail in connection with the officers' murders.

Funeral services for Deen will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Military Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumrall.

Officer Tate's funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at West Point Baptist Church. He will be buried in Starkville.
