Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs sweep Southwest on the road

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Gulf Coast (34-10., 19-7 MACJC South) swept a pair or games on the road Monday at Southwest and Paige Breal was outstanding in pitching the Lady Bulldogs under the win column.

Gulf Coast beat Southwest 4-2 in 10 innings in game one, and pulled out a 2-1 victory in game two.  Paige Breal was called to the mound in relief with the game tied at 2 in the sixth inning.  Breal responded by striking out 11 batters and gave up only one hit in five innings.

Britney Butler smacked an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to give the Lady Bulldogs a 3-2 advantage.  catelyn Williams added another RBI single, driving home Alyssa Hardy who was hit by a pitch.

In Game 2, Breal tossed a five-hitter with four strikeouts to earn the win.

Gulf Coast entered the game in third place in the South Division standings and close out regular season play Tuesday against Meridian.  East Central leads Gulf Coast by one game and the Lady Warriors battle Pearl River.  The second-place team will host the best-of-three state playoff series starting Friday.
