LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Mike Hook homered and Josh Ring pitched 5 2-3 innings of solid relief as Louisville defeated Southern Mississippi 6-3 Sunday. Ring (4-2) relieved starter Mike Eilers in the fourth inning and went on to finish the game. Ring gave up four hits and two runs while striking out four. Hook homered in the eighth, his third of the season, off reliever Anthony DeWitt to give the Cardinals (20-15, 5-4 Conference USA) a 6-2 lead. Starter Charlie Rogers (1-2) worked 6 1-3 innings allowing eight hits and five runs for Southern Miss (16-15, 3-6). Ben Mosley homered for the second straight day for the Golden Eagles. Louisville took two out of three in the series.
