Southern Miss Splits With Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Michael Artman doubled, tripled and homered and drove in three runs as Southern Mississippi beat Louisville 8-3 in the second game of a doubleheader to earn a spilt Saturday. In game one, Mike Tisdale allowed three runs in seven innings and Mike Hooks drove in two runs as the Cardinals won, 5-3. Shea Douglas (3-2) allowed two hits and two runs in game two for the Golden Eagles (16-14, 3-5 Conference USA). Artman was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Ben Mosley and Clint Stoy each went 2-for-5. Denny Williams (3-5) was touched for eight hits and five runs for Louisville (19-15, 4-4) in game two. Hook was 2-for-3 and Mike Budak went 4-for-4 with two runs scored in the first game. Ben Mosley homered for Southern Miss in the loss and Chad Rogers (4-3) allowed nine hits and five runs _ four earned _ in 5 2-3 innings.
