GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Beautiful weather and sunny skies helped to let the good times roll in Downtown Gulfport, as thousands lined the streets for the 46th annual Krewe of Gemini Parade.

"It was very fun and there was a ton of beads flying. The parade was very loud and the music. It was very very cool," said Cameron Moody.

Even Governor Phil Bryant took some time out of his busy schedule to enjoy the sights and sounds.

"It's all the kids. It's the enjoyment of being here, and seeing the excitement. A beautiful day on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and I had a wonderful piece of King Cake a little while ago. So, it's all the festivities, and the people down here that make coming down all the better," said Governor Bryant.

Krewe of Gemini has been rolling through the streets of Gulfport for longer than many parade goers have been alive. It's that long standing tradition that makes South Mississippi the top Mardi Gras destination for some out of towners.

"We love Mardi Gras. We're from lovely Atlanta, and we love to come down to the Gulf Coast to watch Mardi Gras, particularly down near the Mississippi part," said Coretta and Lonnie Arbuckle.

Since the parade rolled on Valentine's Day, some people made sure to include their significant others.

"I wanted to spend some quality time with my girlfriend," said Clint Jones.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Mardi Gras parade if there weren't some first time attendants, like Monique Wolf from New York.

"I'm used to the Macy's Day parade at Thanksgiving so this is different but cool. A lot of fun, lots of fun," said Wolf.
