HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County's new industrial park is almost ready for business. The 623 acre North Harrison County Industrial Complex is a potential site for future manufacturing, distribution or technology. It's a project that offers several distinct advantages for future tenants.

Construction crews are finishing roadwork inside the new complex. Following years of planning and development, this spacious new industrial park is nearly ready.

"We hope to have the park completely finished in the next sixty days. That would include water, sewer, streets, curb, gutter. Everything. We are already marketing the park to prospects," said Bill Hessell, the executive director of the Harrison County Development Commission.

Advantages of the park include its location right next to the Kansas City Southern railroad line and its close proximity to Highway 49 and I-10.

"It is buffered on all sides from the residents. However, it is going to be a large tract of land that we can advertise and try to get some really good developers into Harrison County," said Harrison County Board of Supervisors President Connie Rockco.

One of the greatest benefits of this new industrial park is its sheer size. At more than 600 acres, the county can market much larger parcels to interested industries or businesses.

"In our existing parks today, our largest parcel is 34 acres. This will allow us to actually have parcels up to two, three hundred acres," said Hessell.

Wade Jones was recently hired by the development commission to help market the new industrial park. WLOX News asked him what type of industry might be interested.

"We are pursuing targeted industry groups: aerospace, chemical, plastics, distribution, are all good fits for that park," said Jones.

And even though the sign says North Harrison County Industrial Complex, the formal name is Global Axis Industrial Park. The new complex is one of five industrial parks owned and managed by the Harrison County Development Commission.
