GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art hopes a colorful display will catch your eye. Thursday, a museum representative did what's called a "yarn bomb" at Jones Park in Gulfport. He wrapped a palm tree with colorful felt.

The purpose was to draw attention to an upcoming exhibition at the Ocean Springs museum to celebrate the 111th birthday of Dr. Seuss.

There will be two events, one showcasing local artists, and the other will feature young artists.

"It's a big point for the museum now to kind of reach out along the coast and reintroduce Walter to the coast," said Corey Christy, with WAMA's marketing and development at WAMA. "So Gulfport fortunately reached out to us as part of their One Coast Initiative, which allows us to reach and out be outside of Ocean Springs, get some new people in the museum."

The art exhibitions will take place on February 22 for artists under the age of 18, and March 2 for everyone else.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
