STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The murder sent shockwaves across South Mississippi: A deacon at Little Creek Baptist Church in Perkinston and well known businessman Timmy Garrsion was killed. Nine days later, his wife of 35 years and mother of their four children, was arrested.

"A lot of people are in disbelief," Stone County Sheriff's Department Lt. Ray Boggs said.

Investigators believe Evelyn Garrison, 51, and her friend she grew up with in Saucier, Emmett Entrekin, 64, plotted together to kill her husband. And they've been very open with authorities.

"They have been somewhat surprising in information, as far as questioning that we have gathered from them," Boggs said.

In fact, Lt. Boggs said Entrekin voluntarily came to the sheriff's department Tuesday evening.

"He was developed as a suspect, we took a chance to make a call, a courtesy call to him asked him to come sit down and confirm some information and he did," Boggs said. "With that confirmation we needed, he was put under arrest."

Both suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and were in court Wednesday where a judge set a $1 million cash bond. Entrekin seemed calm as he answered questions in order to get a court appointed attorney. Entrekin said he was widowed, has no children, and gets disability.

Evelyn Garrison, however, appeared nervous in court. She was rocking back and forth in her chair and whispering her answers. When Constable Louis Simmons asked about her marital status she told Simmons, "I'm widowed." Garrison also requested a court appointed attorney.

While investigators believe Evelyn Garrison was involved in planning the murder of her husband, they have yet to charge anyone for the actual murder of Timmy Garrison.

"The investigation is ongoing. We know the public wants to know certain information that we cannot divulge at this time, but we will," Boggs said. "When the time is right, we will divulge that information so everyone can feel relaxed and at ease a little bit."

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is helping the Stone County Sheriff's Department with the murder investigation.

"We have been working tirelessly since the 24th for hours, 20 hour days, refusing no help from anybody, no tip from anybody," Boggs said. "Cases like this are uncommon, so once a department of our size gets a case like this, we seek help. We get help from other agencies and we all come together as a team and we use our strengths, resources, and gather together and develop the leads which helped and aided us in our arrests."
