GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Leaders of the Gulfport-Biloxi International airport Monday gave Harrison County supervisors a brief review of airport operations last year.

Executive Director Clay Williams, was joined by airport authority chairman, Travis Lott and attorney Cy Faneca. They told supervisors the airport is in good shape financially, thanks in part to some savings realized after re-financing a bond last year. As for boardings, numbers are down over the past year.

"Traffic was down a little bit this year," said Williams. "I think a couple reasons for that, you had an economic downturn. The military is not traveling quite as much and then some of the casino traffic has not been quite what it was. But looking forward to a good year."

Williams said one bit of good news involves Delta's daily flights to Atlanta.

Passengers should be more comfortable, since the airline is now flying larger planes on that popular route.
