Mardi Gras beads will be flying all weekend

If you love Mardi Gras, then you'll have a blast this weekend. The Carnival season begins with six parades across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The beads fly first in Ocean Springs. The 40th annual Ocean Springs Elks parade rolls at 1:00 today. A second parade rolls right behind the Elks parade. An estimated 30,000 people may attend those parade.

At the same time, the Legacy parade takes over the northern part of Pass Christian.

At 2:00, the 25th annual Orange Grove Carnival Association parade takes over Dedeaux Road. And in Picayune, the Krewe of Pearl rolls down Goodyear Boulevard.

On Sunday, the 12th annual Lizana Mardi Gras parade will bring the purple, green and gold fun to northern Harrison County.

We have a list of Mardi Gras parades between now and Fat Tuesday on WLOX.com and the WLOX app.

If you're at a parade, we encourage you to take pictures and send them to pics@wlox.com. If you tweet those pictures, use #wloxmardigras.
