LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) -

After a daylong manhunt in Long Beach, Courtney Galloway has been arrested.

Galloway was picked up near the intersection of Ocean Wave Avenue and Hwy 90 in Long Beach. He's being held for Hancock County authorities, who plan to charge him in connection with a morning police chase that started in Bay St. Louis.

Investigators say he was the driver of a white Nissan Maxima that led officers on a high speed chase through Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian and ended in Long Beach around 9am. That's when the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran off into the woods.

Hancock County's Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan actually had to crash his police SUV into the oncoming vehicle to prevent it from moving into oncoming traffic.

Law enforcement officers have been searching for Galloway since 9am. Just after the crash on Hwy 90, officers set up a search perimeter near USM Gulf Coast, and locked down both Long Beach High School and Long Beach Middle School as a precaution. Those lockdowns were lifted around 10:30am.

Galloway already has several outstanding warrants for probation violations.
