HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Youth Court Task Force is studying ways to get a handle on the foster care crisis in Hancock County. The group now has a mechanism for residents to tell their personal stories anonymously.
Stories can now be posted on a new website the task force has created.
The task force will meet twice a month for the next six months with a goal to reduce the high numbers of children now in DHS custody. They are also looking at ways to reunite children with their parents faster than it is currently being done.
"It was clear since the Task Force was first established there were a lot of folks in the community that wanted to comment and wanted to be heard about problems that they may have experienced first hand in our youth court system. So we felt it was important that these comments be heard anomalously because there are confidentiality issues with regards to youth court," said Task Force Chairman David Baria.
