BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Several people in East Biloxi have told WLOX News they heard gunshots coming from Henry Beck Park around 11pm Monday night, just hours after two teens had been shot there.
Biloxi Police said the first shooting, which injured a 19-year-old woman and a 14-year-old juvenile, happened around 7pm.
A woman who witnessed the victims being shot agreed to talk only off camera because she is afraid of retaliation.
She said a group of people had gathered in the park when three cars drove up with boys who are not from the neighborhood. She said someone in the park threw something at one of the cars and the occupants jumped out waving guns and orange towels saying, "Do you want to fight?"
Soon after, she said, a shootout began. But she's not sure who fired first because people in the park were also shooting at the group.
The woman said her friend was standing next to her and was hit. She said it's only but for the grace of God she wasn't shot, too.
