Longtime public servant Nicky Creel dies at 85

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Nicky Creel, who served for years as Harrison County's chancery clerk, has died. He was 85. His son, Nicky Creel, Jr told WLOX News his father had a stroke and died Thursday morning.

Creel served as chancery clerk for 24 years (1972-1996), but was with the county in other capacities for many years before being elected. He also served seven years on the Harrison County Tourism Commission, and was considered a key player in getting the organization back up and running after Hurricane Katrina.

Arrangements for Creel's funeral are still being made through Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.

    The Gautier Police Department arrested two males Friday morning for Auto Burglary charges.  Police say two officers were called to Springridge Road at 4:37 am on a report of Auto Burglary. While responding to the call, officers identified Kaderrick Robinson, 19, and Elijah Bolton, 21, as the two suspects and arrested them both.  Upon arrest, police say the males had property linking them to two burglaries in their possession.  According to police, once at the station...More >>
