GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - The familiar sound of a train passing by could soon change in Gautier.
Tuesday night city leaders are holding a quiet zone meeting for residents.
Officials say the meeting will give people a chance to voice concerns as to whether a railroad quiet zone is needed.
A railroad quiet zone is enhanced with additional safety measures approved by the Federal Railroad Administration, that negates the need for a train's engineer to routinely sound their horns when approaching the crossing.
Tuesday night's meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at the Gautier Senior Center.
The center is located at 902 De La Pointe Drive.
