Animal shelter sees increase in drop-offs

Cages are once again filled up at the Jackson County Animal Shelter.

Officials say they saw an increase in drop-offs Monday, taking in 43 stray dogs and cats.

After one drop off of a dog, with her two litters of puppies, officials are reminding people of the importance to spay and neuter their animals to prevent this from happening.

An employee posted on the group's Facebook page saying "Today was one of the worst days for animals coming into the shelter since I've been employed at Jackson County Animal Shelter."

The shelter needs people to adopt, foster and volunteer.
