BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Sometimes it's good to be recognized as a regular customer. When you're robbing the place, it's not.
Friday, Biloxi Police arrested Eric Scott Melvin, 24, and charged him with the December 17th armed robbery of the MZ Mart on Pass Road.
Investigators reviewing surveillance video from the store say they saw the robber raise his mask momentarily during the hold up. It was enough for the victims to recognize him as a prior customer. When officers pulled the video from a few days earlier, they found a picture of their suspect and an acquaintance, but it still wasn't clear who he was. That's when they turned to the public.
Melvin was questioned and ultimately confessed to the crime.
Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set Melvin's bond at $100,000.00 for the Armed Robbery charge.
The Biloxi Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for their help in solving this crime.
