BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It was a record setting morning in South Mississippi. Temperatures across the coast dipped below 20 degrees. In fact, the official 19 degree reading set a record low temperature for January 8.
To handle the chill, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency released this list of suggestions. First, wear several layers of loose fitting clothes. Make sure they're lightweight, warm pieces rather than one layer of heavy clothing.
Also, Wear mittens, because they're warmer than gloves.
You should also Wear a hat. MEMA reminds you, body heat is lost through your head.
Temperatures will only reach the upper 30's today. Shelters will open again late this afternoon, for people who need to escape the teeth chattering chill.
