Later this year, you will get the chance to elect a wide array of public officials in Mississippi from Governor to local constable. But before that, in January and February, everyone who wants to run will throw their hat in the ring and qualify.
Running for public office can be tough, with so many of your actions coming under public scrutiny. While there are plenty of good public servants in Mississippi, there is a need for others to step up and run for office; to debate, and to call into question the status quo.
Win or lose, contested elections are good. They bring to the forefront the issues of the people. Maybe you and someone you know should consider representing the issues of your community and becoming a public servant by running for elected office.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com.
