HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

On Monday Harrison County supervisors voted to table a request from youth court judge, Margaret Alfonso.

Judge Alfonso appeared before the board, along with a school nurse and administrator from the Biloxi School District.
They are seeking the board's support of a law which would allow more open communication between youth court and school officials.

The judge told supervisors the safety and welfare of children could be improved if such communication were allowed.

"Right now, as it exists, she cannot call youth court and ask, do you have any referrals regarding this child, without me entering into an written order and the manpower that carries with it," said Alfonso.

Supervisors tabled a vote on supporting such a bill until next Monday's meeting in Biloxi. They'd like input from school superintendents about the idea.
