JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A longtime Jackson County official is calling it quits.  Circuit Clerk Joe Martin said he will not seek reelection. Martin worked for the county for 36 years helping with elections and keeping up with court records.

Martin said it was a hard decision, but it is time to move on.

"I made this decision after a lot of prayer and talking to family and employees," said Martin.

Martin's term will expire at the end of the year.
