GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Fans of the hit television program "Downton Abbey" got an early treat Saturday night at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport. They were able to see the first episode of the hit public broadcasting series sponsored by the Foundation for Public Broadcasting in Mississippi.
About 200 people attended two viewings.
The second viewing included a reception with all the royal works and guests. Most of them were in costume and dined on seafood, wine and gossip.
The Jackson improv group Misfit Monkeys helped stir up conversation and judged the costume contests before the showings.
The foundation had sneak previews already in North Mississippi and Jackson. Organizers say it's a good way to say thank you to the Coast for the support.
"I just love the warm welcome we always receive here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the support that the Foundation for Public Broadcasting receives from this area is tremendous," said Leanne Brewer, Executive Director of the Foundation for PBM.
For those who missed the special preview, the first episode of season five airs on Mississippi Public Broadcasting on Sunday at 8 p.m. The series will air through March 4.
