BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - In 2014, Mississippi State and Ole Miss had the college football world focused on the Magnolia State. The Bulldogs and the Rebels surged to the top of the polls. Because of their success, both teams earned spots in New Year's Six bowl games.
Tonight, we invite you to watch "Bowl Bound From Mississippi", a 30 minute special that celebrates the Rebels berth in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, and the Bulldogs invitation to the Capital One Orange Bowl.
We have crews in Atlanta and Miami. They're covering both football teams as they prepare for their New Year's Eve match ups.
Ole Miss plays TCU Wednesday afternoon. And Rebels' defensive back Senquez Golson can't wait to put on his pads and enter the Georgia Dome. "Of course, you know, we're here to have fun, it's hard not to have fun in downtown Atlanta, but, you know, I think the most important thing is the game."
Wednesday night, Mississippi State tackles Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs spent part of their time in Miami enjoying the beach. "I guess we've just replaced all the classroom and tutoring time with a lot of going to the beach and having fun on South Beach," head coach Dan Mullen said. "But our guys really understand that balance of the bowl work here as a reward for such a great season. But we're also here to win a football game."
"Bowl Bound From Mississippi" will be hosted by A.J. Giardina, Tyler Bouldin, Chris Hodgison and Mike Sands. You can watch it tonight at 6:30 on WLOX CBS, WLBT, WDAM, WTOK, WTVA or WABG.
You can also participate in the program by using #msbowlbound when you tweet messages of support for Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
