SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Low gasoline prices continue to drop, and in doing so, have saved Coast residents and travelers a good bit of money and headaches during the holiday season.
Some gas stations on the Coast have dipped below the $2 mark. Some locations are as low as $1.94 a gallon.
How does the Mississippi price compare to one year ago?
Mississippi boasted the second lowest average in the country at $3.28 a gallon in 2013.
It has been a long lasting Christmas gift for Coast residents, especially Doug Tellier, of Biloxi, who just recently purchased 300 gallons of gasoline for his business.
"Generally, that happens this time of year. Every year. I've done it this year. I did it the year before. I've bought enough gas to last me all year," said Tellier.
"It's actually been good for me. You can see what I'm driving. This big old truck here, and it drinks a lot of gas," said Billy McGee, of Ocean Springs.
AAA reports that average nationwide gasoline prices are at their lowest point in more than five years. A slump in the oil market is driving the lower fuel prices.
