Ordinance will prohibit some behavior of parade-goers

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The Biloxi City Council will soon vote to amend an ordinance and prohibit the throwing of objects at parade floats or at parade participants.

Biloxi Council President Kenny Glavan introduced the ordinance at the December 16, 2014 meeting. On December 30, 2014 the council will vote whether to approve the changes.

The ordinance will amend Section 13-1-46 of the City of Biloxi Code of Ordinances (Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions-Parades) by adding Section 13-1-46.1 prohibiting the throwing of objects at parade floats or at parade participants.

Glavan said members of organizations across the coast have approached him after being hit by objects, such as empty cans or bottles, during parades. He said after researching, he found Mobile, AL an New Orleans, LA have a similar ordinance.

On Tuesday, the council will vote whether to approve the ordinance.
