The Stone Tomcats boys soccer team is unbeaten through 12 games

WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) - Stone head coach Jim Risen has his Tomcats off and running under the win column, undefeated after 12 games.
What's been the main factor in going unbeaten?

Risen said, "It's been great leadership from the seniors and I think it's been a strong nucleus overall."

One of those seniors is Michael Graham.  Through 12 games, Graham has 12 goals and 2 assists.

"He's a field general in particular and he leads the other kids overall, "stated Risen. "He gets them line-up right and he fires them up at practice."

Graham said, "Right now our offense is looking really good.  I mean the defense is playing well too.  Everything is kind of clicking right now."

Case Sloan is another vocal leader on the Tomcats team.  He has netted 4 goals and leads Stone with 6 assists.
He knows exactly why Stone has runoff 12 consecutive victories.

"I think it's just our work ethic and how hard we come out to practice and put a hundred percent in everyday, "stated Sloan.

Goalkeeper Tanner Nations stands tall in front of the Tomcats net.  He's made 20 saves in 24 shots on goal.  Nations says Stone has a shot at winning the Division 8-5A title.

Nations said, "I believe so because I think defending we're pretty sound and once we get the ball on defense we counter attack very easily."

The Division 8-5A title most likely will come down to Stone and West Harrison and the Tomcats and Hurricanes clash on January 6 in Stone County.
