JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Harrison, Hancock and Stone County Toys for Tots gave Believe two loads of toys to distribute to children in Jackson County on Friday.
Believe partners with Little River Marina and the American Legion from Gautier to collect toys for Christmas. The organization has already assisted 150 families.
Organizer Pamela Williams says the community's desire to help others this holiday has been overwhelming.
"At this point, we have over 880 kids signed up, and we should be able to fill their needs along with everybody else that keeps calling that say they need help," said Williams. "So, I am really excited and very blessed. We call it Believe, because we do believe that God will provide what we need."
Williams says she will keep giving until all the funds and toys are distributed.
The organization is no longer taking applications. However, if there are still toys once the current orders are filled, they will be assisting others that have asked for help after the deadline for applications.
To submit an application, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with contact information and the number of children. Applicants would be required to prove income level and residency in Jackson County.
Next year, Williams said she plans to work the toy drive again, but will work with Toys for Tots.
