If you've heard explosions in the Woolmarket area over the last 24 hours, you're not alone.
WLOX News has learned the blasts are coming from the U.S. Navy's gun and rifle range just off of Highway 67. A spokesman for the Seabee base told WLOX News some old mortar training rounds were found while a contractor was cleaning up the range.
Explosive technicians were called in to destroy the mortars and that's what you've been hearing.
Although the explosive work is finished for the day, Navy officials say if more rounds are found during the cleanup process, the technicians could be back at work.
