LUCEDALE, MS (WLOX) -

The Lucedale community gathered Wednesday night to remember fallen officer, John Street. The candlelight vigil was held at Edge Ministries, where he was the youth pastor.

In downtown Lucedale, the holiday lights on Main Street were overshadowed by police lights, Wednesday night. Squad cars lined the street in front of Edge Ministries.

Twenty-four year old John Street not only protected the community by serving both the Lucedale Police Department and the Sheriff's Department, he also touched the lives of many as youth minister at his church.

"He was never afraid of who he was. He protected our town and everyone, but then again he also served for the Lord," said Tori Weber.

"He was really good at giving advice. He really helped me," Selen Keel said. "I never thought that I would ever meet somebody like him."

Friends of Street say during his short time on this earth, he touched the lives of so many.

Visitation for Deputy Street is scheduled for Friday, at First Baptist Church of Gulfport, located at 12190 Highway 605. Visitation times are 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. for the family, and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for friends and the general public.

Saturday morning, an additional visitation hour will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m.
