As more details are revealed in the public corruption scandal at the Harrison County Utility Authority; we learn just how dishonest those in positions of power can be. The federal indictments lay out details of ongoing cash brides, cars, tickets, condos - all in exchange for votes and actions to secure millions of tax dollars for water and sewer projects.
Of course, those accused will have their day in court to defend the charges. If the indictments turn out to be true, the misconduct is appalling. There is plenty good and needed work to be done with public funds in South Mississippi.
We are glad prosecutors are getting to the bottom of this public corruption and will soon put those who are found guilty of fraudulent conduct behind bars.
