GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The law enforcement community is in mourning after losing one of their own in an early morning accident.
Around 2am, George County Deputy John Street, 24, was responding to an accident on Highway 57 North when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
Street has been a law enforcement officer for about four years. He worked full time with the Lucedale Police Department and part time with the George County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Street leaves behind a wife and two children, ages four and four-months.
Both the department and the community are in shock over the loss. A news release from the sheriff's department stated, "We ask for prayers for his family and the officers and staffs of the George County Sheriff's Office, and the Lucedale Police Department."
Arrangements for Deputy Street will be announced as soon as they become available.
