GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Officials with the George County Sheriff's Department tell WLOX News 64-year-old Cheria Dixon, the second victim in a horrific murder-suicide in the county earlier this week, died Saturday around noon.

Investigators say James Andrew Brown, 30, gunned down his former in-laws, 76-year-old Horace Dixon and his wife Cheria, Wednesday morning. Officials are calling the killings “a domestic issue.”

Deputies responded to the scene near Parker Ridge Road around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after neighbors said they heard gunshots coming from the house. That is where they found the Dixons had been shot.

Authorities tell us Horace died at the scene, and Cheria was airlifted to Singing River Hospital where she underwent surgery that night.

George County Chief Deputy Ben Brown said deputies found James deceased in a wooded area about 15 miles from the crime scene with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Brown said investigators are still working to uncover what led to the deadly shooting. If you have any information that could help authorities, please contact the George County Sheriff's Department at 601-947-4811.
