OXFORD, MS (WLOX) -
Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze finalized a new contract one that will pay the 3rd year head coach a base salary of $4.3 million in 2015. His base salary this past season was $3.15 million.
Last week Rebels athletic director Ross Bjork announced that the university and Freeze had reached a tentative deal on a new contract that runs for four years. However, details of the new contract weren't released until Friday.
Freeze is now making the kind of money that big-time college football coaches earn on a yearly basis. He will receive an increase of $100,000 in each year of the new contract, or 50 percent of the annual bonuses earned in the previous season. It depends on which is greater.
If Freeze can guided Ole Miss into the SEC championship game, his base salary will jump to $5 million.
Freeze led Ole Miss to a 9-3 record, beat arch rival Mississippi State in the annual Egg Bowl and will lead his No. 9 Rebels against No. 6 TCU in the Orange Bowl on New Year's eve.
