Retirees and current employees of the Singing River Health System are very upset and rightfully so. They only recently found out about the under funding of the employee pension fund and the planned termination of that fund. The financial troubles had been kept a secret.
The Singing River Health System is owned by the taxpayers of Jackson County, but until recently those tax payers and employees were also kept in the dark about the financial woes of the health system.
It's time to let the sun shine in and remove the shrouds of secrecy. This is public business. It should be conducted in open and public meetings. Then all interested parties know when decisions are made that affect the future of Singing River Health System.
