East Mississippi Community College Quarterback Chad Kelly to visit Ole Miss

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - East Mississippi is going after back-to-back national titles and a 3-rd championship in four years.  They hit the practice field Saturday morning.

Lions quarterback Chad Kelly, the nephew of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, has thrown for 3,472 yards and 43 touchdowns and after practice on Saturday he said he's narrowed his choices to four colleges.

Kelly said, "I'm considering Ole Miss, LSU, Virginia Tech and Indiana.  I will be making my official visit to Ole Miss Sunday night after the national championship game."

Kelly added that he's going to take his time but said he might make up his mind after this weekend.  Remember Bo Wallace played for East Mississippi and led the Lions to a national title. Wallace is completing his senior season at Ole Miss and the Rebels would love to have Kelly's experience in big games.

LSU would also love to have Kelly in Baton Rouge. A few years ago they secured the services of Zach Mettenberger from the junior college ranks and in 2013 he had a stellar senior season passing the football for the Tigers of Les Miles.  This year under two inexperienced quarterbacks LSU's passing game took a severe hit. Kelly said he may make an official visit to LSU next weekend.

Iowa Western head coach Scott Strohmeier led his team to the 2012 National Championship in only it's four season in existence.  Both teams are undefeated at 11 and 0.

Strohmeier said, "In 2012 we played Georgia Military, Trinity Valley. We had to go to Arkansas.  I mean we went all over just to play and that was really the year that I thought, hey, we're close.  D don't know if we're there yet, but we're close.  We were fortunate in 2012 to win it."

East Mississippi head coach Buddy Stephens said, "Sustaining and being on top is probably the hardest thing because you get everybody's best game every week and I've had guys recruit against us and use the deal, hey...you're never going to play there because they have too many great athletes."

"I mean it's going to be a great game, "stated Kelly. "Iowa Western has a great team and we're just great to be in the situation."

It should be an exciting clash of two junior college Titans.  Tickets are still available.
