Gulfport man charged with robbing D'Iberville Dollar General

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A Gulfport man is behind bars for allegedly robbing the D'Iberville Dollar General store on Lemoyne Boulevard last month.

Lt. Marty Griffin said officers responded to a silent alarm at the store on Nov. 25. Authorities say two store employees were closing up the store for the night when two black men came in and held them at gunpoint.

Griffin said one of the employees was forced to lie on the floor while the other opened the safe. He said the suspects ran from the store just as officers were arriving.

Griffin said evidence at the scene led officers to Joseph Towner, 29. He said Towner was arrested in Biloxi on Thursday with help from the Biloxi Police Department.

Griffin said Towner is charged with armed robbery and is being held at the Harrison County Jail without bond because he is currently under two other felony indictments.
