Gulfport Police arrest man accused of robbing 2nd Stop gas station

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Officials with the Gulfport Police Department announced Friday they have arrested the man they believe robbed the 2nd Stop convenience store on Old Pass Road Wednesday night.

Police Chief Leonard Papania said officers responded to the store around 7:45 p.m. after they received a complaint that a black man entered the store and stole $200 and cigarettes.

The victim gave officers a description of the man and police started searching for the suspect.

Papania said shortly after the robbery, officers got a tip that led them to an abandoned address on the 1900 block of 45th Avenue. That is where authorities say they found Peter Jashawn Dent, 23, with clothes matching the description given by the victim.

Papania said Dent is charged with armed robbery and is being held at the Harrison County Jail without bond because he was on probation at the time of the robbery.
