GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - "We were too young to be scared." Those were the words of a Pearl Harbor survivor who attended a Friday morning remembrance ceremony at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.

Residents gathered near the reflecting pool for a solemn and patriotic ceremony marking that fateful day on December 7, 1941.

Veterans listened intently as a radio broadcast was played of a President Roosevelt uttering those famous words when he called it, "A day which will live in infamy."

Pearl Harbor thrust the United States into World War II and would forever alter the lives of many residents here who are members of that "greatest generation".
