Disappointing Day for Saints Fans, Despite Win

Well, the Saints may have missed out on the playoffs, but that didn't stop some fans from enjoying the final game of the season.

Fans packed the Village Sports Pub in Biloxi Sunday afternoon hoping for a win, along with a little help.

Saints fan Trevor Guidry made a two-hour drive from Gonzales, Louisiana to the Village Sports Pub in Biloxi to watch his favorite team in action, with his friends.

At half time, the Saints led the Panthers, 14 to 3, and Guidry prayed the Saints would hold on to that lead.

"The Saints are looking awesome so far," Guidry said. "They've come together the last four days. They're really playing some good football. I definitely have high hopes. I think we're definitely going to beat Carolina."

Around the corner, a die-hard Panthers rooted for another Carolina comeback, despite ribbing from nearby Saints fans.

"Like most Saints fans, they're uneducated in the fact that a real team like the Panthers win games by using their brains and their hearts," said Panthers fan Shannon Casper.

At last, the final seconds of the game ticked away, with the Saints winning 21 to 18, making for some ecstatic Saints fans.

Panthers fans weren't quite so happy, but they were gracious. "It was a great game, the Saints do deserve to be in the playoffs, they actually showed some heart, I give them their credit," Cosper said.

But moments later, the New York Jets lost to the St. Louis Rams in overtime, preventing the Saints from making it to the playoffs despite their hard-won win against the Panthers.
