PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Officials with the Pascagoula Police Department tell us they have made three arrests in connection to an arson investigation at a local business.

The investigation started last week when fire crews responded to a blaze at M.E. Slater Construction, located at 2010 Chicot Road, late Friday night. Officials tell us firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, and investigators found multiple origins to where the fire started.

Authorities say the damage to the building was estimated at $175,000.

Fire investigators from the state fire marshal's office and Pascagoula Police Department collected enough evidence from the scene to determine the fire was the work of an arsonist.

Capt. James Massey, with the Pascagoula Police Department, said Michael Shaun Schaffran, 35, Michael Eugene Slater, 52, and Letisha Danielle Bloodworth Schaffran, 33, were arrested Wednesday in connection to the arson.

Massey said Michael Schaffran, a Moss Point resident, is charged with second degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson. He is being held at the Jackson County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Massey said Michael Slater, a Jackson County resident, is charged with second degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson. He was released after posting on a $5,000 bond.

Massey said Letisha Schaffran, also of Moss Point, was arrested on a probation violation for the MDOC. She is being held at the Jackson County Jail without bond. Police say they suspect she was involved in the arson, and criminal charges may be forthcoming.
