ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) - The mystery surrounding who stole that donation jar from the St. Martin Sicily's Pizza may be solved.
Jackson County authorities say Kelly Lynn Skok was arrested and charged with misdemeanor petit larceny. The 29-year-old allegedly took the donation container last week.
Jackson County detectives say they reviewed surveillance video from the restaurant. It reportedly showed Skok asking a cashier for an employment application. According to a sheriff's department news release, Skok then left the restaurant and returned with a jacket on her left arm. They say the video shows Skok approaching the counter, placing the jacket over the donation box and leaving.
It was previously reported that there was about $300 in donations in the plastic box meant to support a wheelchair bicycle race. The investigation has revealed that there was less than $20 in the container.
If she's convicted on this misdemeanor, Skok faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
